Meeting began at 7:45 pm

1.)    Sharon Historical Commission Grant Review

·        Received one (1) proposal from Ms. Broomer

·        General discussion as to the content of the proposal and weather it fit the criteria of what we are looking for. It was well written and met all of our expectations.

·        DM said that Mass Historical Comm. Is anxious to have us` make an award. BG made a motion to accept the proposal, SR seconded and was Approved.

·        DM to contact Ms. Broomer to set up a meeting/interview time. DM will inform the members.

·        DM signed and sent back to MHC an acceptance letter stating that the CPA committee has approved this project.

2.)    Sharon Community Center

·        Received a letter from the Board of Selectmen, regarding Dave Clifton. They are seeking our support of naming the “Ball Room”, after Dave Clifton. This proposal will be brought before Town Meeting. GH made a motion to support this plan, SR seconded and was Approved.

3.)    House Plaques

·        SR asked what our role was in the style and placement of a plaque on a home. In a historic district and on an inventoried house we can dictate what the style will be and color (same as those currently mounted) A house that is not on our list may have their own style. However when and if this property becomes an inventoried property then the standard style plaque must be installed.

4.)    50 North Main Street

·        DM stated that he had received correspondence from the State DPW that they will install stairs into the stone wall at the front of this home. They are currently awaiting pricing from the contractor. Schedule is unknown at this time.

5.)    Sharon Commons

·        DM stated that an Archeological survey has been conducted at the site. DM has contacted the MHC to say that the commission has not been notified of this by the appropriate parties. MHC will contact the group responsible and ask them to make sure that SHC is kept in the loop. Hopefully by September 9th we will know what is taking place. We should be receiving a binder from the developer that outlines the proposed scope of the project.

6.)    Wilbur Project

·        DM mentioned that the developer had to resubmit their package to MHC. DM re issued the letter written in support by the Sharon Historical Commission to MHC for their records.

7.)    Next Meeting will have a presentation outlining the CPA study being done for the town.
